Research Development Coordinator

Reporting to the Senior Research Development Officer, this position performs a wide range of complex and confidential administrative duties to support the Research Development team for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) and the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). Communicates with and provides services to a wide range of internal and external contacts, including faculty, divisional and departmental staff, as well as external research funding agencies.  Anticipates and resolves problems and maintains positive and effective relationships with a broad range of people to further the research development agenda across multiple fronts.


Duties & Responsibilities:

1.    Assists with funding searches for faculty in all three FAS divisions and SEAS to help researchers find funding for research projects, sabbatical support, funding for exhibitions, conferences, travel to archives, collaborative projects and large scale research projects.

2.    Supports the Research Development team with the review of completed proposals for responsiveness to sponsor guidelines and priorities.

3.    Serves as first point of contact for the Research Development team and performs appropriate triage on specific questions as necessary. Direct inquiries to appropriate resources and loops back to ensure high quality customer service to faculty and staff.

4.    Assists with drafting non-disciplinary proposal components (management plans, timelines, broader impacts); creates templates, timelines, checklists and other proposal development resources. Helps to connect faculty with relevant campus resources.

5.    Maintains a database of Broader Impacts resources and updates as necessary; Maintains and updates the Research Development web presence, including funding opportunity lists and deadlines.

6.    Assists with the design of outreach and marketing materials such as brochures, informational handouts, and PowerPoint presentations.

7.    Tracks funding opportunities, drafts funding opportunity descriptions, and proofreads content for monthly funding opportunity newsletters.

8.    Coordinates, and has direct responsibility for all Research Development sponsored agency and foundation visits to FAS and SEAS faculty, as necessary. Plans visit details and coordination, including event budget management and oversight. Provides input into planning around agency, foundation, and federal sponsor relationships and visit plans.

9.    Organizes and implements administrative systems and procedures around Research Development services and functions. Schedules meetings and conference calls as necessary. Staffs relevant meetings. Reviews and processes purchasing card transactions.

10. Other duties as required.
