United in Design - Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Scholarship

As an office, Union Studio is committed to supporting rising designers with unique backgrounds, experiences, and points of view. To support these designers and the development of an architectural profession that is more reflective of our diverse society, Union Studio has established the United in Design Scholarship.

Union Studio is a nationally practicing architecture and community design firm based in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 2001, our mission is to enrich the lives of people and communities through the design of buildings and places for this generation and the next. Our growing office of 24 architects and urban designers is passionate about the ability of design to transform our built environment for a more equitable future. Through the combined talents of many, we aim to create memorable places that bring people together

The scholarship includes:
  • $2,500 academic scholarship paid directly to your current academic institution
  • Paid summer internship opportunity for 10-weeks at Union Studio in Providence, Rhode Island
  • Housing in Providence for the duration of the internship period
  • Mentor for AXP (NCARB Architectural Experience Program) within the firm

Eligible Applicants:
  • Underrepresented, minority, or LGBTQ+ students
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate architecture, urban design or planning program
  • Will begin final year of academic program in Fall 2019
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
