SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizes and provides instructional leadership to develop innovative Montessori themes, educational methods, and practices that will appeal to a wide range of student interests and abilities. Provides direction in order to ensure high levels of academic achievement and social growth for all students. Leads staff and facilities to develop an optimum Montessori learning climate. Prepares and achieves high standards for quality and excellence. 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1.  Administers, manages and supervises the operation of the school in compliance with the Board of Education policy and the directions of the Superintendent
2.  Administers, manages, and supervises the operation for the state licensed Early Childhood classrooms
3.  Complies with the American Montessori Society (AMS) accreditation standards for implementing and evaluating the Montessori program
4.  Collaborates with teachers and district leaders in aligning Montessori curriculum to local and state standards
5.  Provides leadership and support for the development of the integrated Montessori curriculum
6.  Provides daily leadership in implementing AMS accreditation criteria and standards
7.  Manages and oversees the maintenance of the facilities to comply with the Department of Consumer and Industry Services and AMS standards
8.  Develops recruitment materials and promotes the Montessori program in the community
9.  Maintains student conduct and enforces discipline in compliance with district procedures and according to due process rights of students
10. Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students through report cards and conferences
11. Provides leadership for the planning and management of the total instructional program of the school
12. Supervises, observes, and evaluates the performance of all staff members
13. Assists in the recruiting, screening and recommending of qualified candidates for school staff and in the orientation of new personnel
14. Plans and administers Montessori staff development activities
15. Selects and administers a model for school governance utilizing staff members, parents and students
16. Provides for annual and long-range plans for educational programs
17. Selects and administers a plan for utilization of volunteers 
18. Assumes responsibility for the safety, administration, maintenance and remodeling of school improvement
19. Prepares and submits requests for purchases and repairs, monitors expenditures and funds
20. Interfaces and communicates regularly with Director of Elementary Education
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
     1.  Must possess teacher or leader Montessori credentials
     2.  Possess a successful work history with at least three years successful teaching
     3.  Meet or be willing to meet the State school administrator’s certification or continuing education requirements
     4.  Possess basic computer skills for communication and report writing
     5.  Demonstrate excellence in oral and written communication skills
     6.  Demonstrate knowledge of elementary curriculum, content and pacing, and differentiated instruction
     7.  Experience with assessment and school improvement planning, based on data evaluation
 
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
     1.  Possess a Master’s Degree in in an Education related area
     2.  Possess three years successful Montessori education teaching experience or comparable successful experience as it relates to this position
     3.  Successful experience in a multi-cultural urban school district
     4.  Previous administrative experience
