Senior Business Analyst

REPORTS TO: Managing Director, Business Intelligence

Organization Overview:
The Jewish Federations of North America (“JFNA”) represents 146 Jewish Federations and over 300 Network communities, which raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually for social welfare, social services and educational needs. The Federation movement, collectively among the top 10 charities on the continent, protects and enhances the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedakah (charity and social justice) and Torah (Jewish learning).

POSITION SUMMARY:
JFNA is looking for a Senior Business Analyst with Salesforce administration experience to join a new Business Intelligence team. The Senior Business Analyst will work independently under the direction of the Managing Director to design solutions for: helping JFNA support clients in the Federation network; measuring, tracking, and reporting on JFNA’s progress; and conceptualizing, developing, and supporting benchmarks of Federations. To that end, the Senior Business Analyst will work collaboratively with JFNA and Federation network stakeholders at all levels to collect business requirements, document business processes, and develop recommendations. JFNA has designated Salesforce as the strategic system for tracking and reporting, so the Senior Business Analyst will work in partnership with the Salesforce implementation consultants and serve as a bridge between consultants and staff. The Senior Business Analyst will work to improve JFNA’s data environment and help JFNA build a culture of data by demonstrating and training staff on the benefits of timely, meaningful, and accurate reporting to support data-driven decision making.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Understand and document business processes, data needs, and key performance indicators (KPIs) across JFNA
  • Drive integration of new business processes and refinement of existing processes in Salesforce by advocating for end users in collaboration with integration consultants
  • Manage Salesforce support and manage change requests to JFNA’s Salesforce environment
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement of Salesforce implementation; monitor usage and uptake; provide training and communications on functionality deployed
  • Produce meaningful and user-friendly reports for internal JFNA and external Federation audiences
  • Create a program of coordinated data collection efforts across JFNA program areas to reduce duplication of efforts
  • Make recommendations to the Managing Director and leadership team on improvements to JFNA’s data environment
  • Support development of junior Business Intelligence staff
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor Degree or higher in a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a business analyst or business intelligence role
  • Creative problem-solver able to anticipate and solve problems independently, and follow through on projects to completion
  • Experience with database design and best practices, statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative reporting, and business intelligence tools (Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience working with data of varying levels of quality
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present at all levels of management
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with attention to detail and commitment to follow-through
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Advanced knowledge of business intelligence software such as PowerBI, Tableau
  • Formal certifications like Salesforce Certified Administrator, Advanced Administrator, App Builder, etc. are preferable, but not required
  • Understanding of the capabilities of Salesforce, including security controls (profiles, permission sets, public groups, queues, sharing settings), process automation tools (workflows, flows, process builder), and business application development (custom objects, custom fields, page layouts, record types, apps, tabs)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Knowledge of fundraising, experience with NFP, knowledge of Jewish communal organizations and Federations
