Working at the intersection of technology, markets, and policy, Navigant's energy technology consultants help clients innovate to address opportunities and challenges presented by energy efficient technologies and distributed energy resources (DER) for the built environment.

Navigant’s Technology Innovation and Management group, a sub-practice of Navigant’s world-class Energy consulting practice, provides technical and market analysis related to the potential for new and emerging technologies to save energy. Additionally, Navigant’s Technology Innovation and Management group supports the development of energy efficiency standards for appliances, lighting, and equipment, which save the U.S. more energy each year than all wind and solar power generation combined. This includes examining the impacts of regulations on manufacturers and understanding the technical improvements, and associated costs, to meet higher performance levels.
 
This role can be based in any of the following locations:  Washington DC; Burlington, MA

Role Description
As members of our team, consultants work with clients involved in a wide range of energy-related activities, particularly in the field of energy efficiency. The successful candidate will support the evaluation, investigation, and analysis of new and emerging technologies that can improve the overall efficiency of buildings or related equipment. Other project work may include market and technology assessments and advanced technology investigations. The responsibilities of this position include cultivating and maintaining working partnerships with a diverse set of stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, equipment manufacturers, trade organizations, and efficiency advocates.

Responsibilities
  • Providing detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on energy-related activities
  • Assessing technologies and analyzing technology trends
  • Modeling the performance of advanced technologies
  • Performing statistical and economic analyses; data collection; spreadsheet creation and management
  • Developing test methods to help characterize the energy use of various appliances
  • Reviewing international test methods and procedures currently used by industry
  • Testing the energy efficiency of various appliances
  • Preparing reports, presentations and other documents for clients.

Qualifications
  • Graduating in 2019 with a Bachelor’s or Masters in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical), Physics, or a related technical field; Or 1-3 years relevant energy efficiency work experience will be considered in lieu of the educational profile.

  • Ability to travel
  • Additional work as assigned

Mental/Physical Requirements
  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment to coordinate work
  • Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
  • Generally works in an office environment
