Legal Assistant/Secretary

Legal assistant/secretary position in boutique law firm specializing in banking/financial services law.

Duties:
-       Assist firm’s lawyers in legal research, and analysis
-       Preform receptionist duties and support tasks, especially telephone coverage
-       Legal research using LexisNexis and other online sources
-       Assist firm’s office manager in areas including procurement and office inventory
-       File, shred, photocopy and organize confidential records
-       Update Library periodicals and law books
-       Modify and maintain tracking spreadsheets in MS Excel
-       Assist in preparing and proofreading letters, documents and attorney notes and other resources
-       Other duties as assigned
 
Requirements:
-       College graduate with office work experience
Qualifications & Skills:
-       Must have professional attitude, take pride in work, pay attention to detail, proof own work, and take constructive criticism well
-       Must have excellent command of English language and good phone manner
-       Must have strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
-       Must have Internet search experience
-       Must be able to operate standard office machines, such as Xerox copier, typewriter and fax, etc.
-       Must be able to pick up and internalize new information/instructions quickly
-       Must be a self-starter and take initiative
-       Must like working in quiet office environment
-       Must be punctual, neat, organized, and polite
-       Must be able to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities and tight deadlines
 
Desirable:
Prior knowledge of Lexis Advance and other online legal research tools; and 
Prior knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro and PowerPoint;
Proficient knowledge and editing capabilities of legal documents
