Research Assistant 2, HSS

General Purpose: 
A Research Assistant position is available within the Yale School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. This position will support a program of research on intimate partner violence including a project that aims to understand the effects of firearm threats.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1.   Screening and recruiting study participants
2.   Obtaining informed consent
3.   Preparing study materials for interview and conducting standardized/structured study interviews
4.   Conducting and transcribing focus groups and key informant interviews
5.   Entering, cleaning, and coding data
6.   Conducting, interpreting and presenting results of descriptive data analyses
7.   Conducting library/internet research and maintaining a bibliographic library database
8.   Programming surveys
9.   Developing databases
10.   Preparing reports, tables, and figures
11.   Updating lab website
12.   Exploring and learning new software relevant to the conduct of research
13.   Translating/back-translating materials (if bilingual in Spanish)
14.   Additional functions incidental to research activities
15.   Participation in Human Subjects Protection, HIPAA and state domestic violence training is mandatory.
 
This position will involve driving to community locations.
 
Required Education and Experience: 
Two years of related work experience in the same job family and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
 
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability providing support to a research study, including administration of standardized measures, and in adherence to study protocols and HIPAA and Human Subjects guidelines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail that includes proofreading own work and correcting errors prior to submission. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Outstanding oral (face-to-face and over the telephone) and written communication skills. Ability to report on the status of research activities. Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer multiple survey measures without error. Ability to concentrate and persist in various environments. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines. Ability to work as part of a team and independently with self-initiative and strive for professionalism in all areas. Demonstrated excellent attendance record.
  • Reliable means of transportation and current driver's license to visit other community locations.
  • Preferred Education and Experience: MA in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field. Working knowledge of REDCap, Qualtrics, or other relational web-based data collection/management platforms. Working knowledge of SPSS or SAS, and descriptive data analysis. Demonstrated ability working previously with marginalized women or victims of trauma/intimate partner violence.
