I wish of course it was in person experience but other than that it was great virtual internship.

Advice

I would share on how meeting were very interactive and the case studies we did were impactful.

What I liked

I like the diversity of the job. I am able to take on different project and really gain some real world experience that can apply to my degree path. It is also really nice being able to extend my network and connect with different companies coming through the facility. Being able to talk to others and hear their struggles keeps the work interesting because there is always something new to solve.

I would definitely tell anyone looking for an internship or a job to don't stop trying or looking. You will come across the right job as long as you are out there looking. If you are passionate about what you do you can accomplish anything.

What I liked

This was an incredible bile learning experience. It really gave me the opportunity to envision my future with a career in consulting. They provided me with chances to get effective training, network, and be responsible for my own presentation for a project.

What I wish was different

I wish I had an opportunity to sit in on other projects to learn more about the other areas of service at Deloitte besides the one I was in. I was able network and to talk to people in other industries, but not see it first hand.

Advice

I would say to network as much as you can, and take advantage of ever opportunity that is presented. Networking is really the best way to make the best of your experiences as an intern at the firm.

I love the high paced environment and the amount of freedom the team gave me in my work. Every person I met from Deloitte was incredible.

I wish I would have spent more time in person but the role itself was a wonderful experience.

Advice

Setting your own schedule and sticking to it is incredibly important. I would suggest that even if you are working remotely, you have a place to go to work.

What I liked

I liked the atmosphere of the workplace. Even being virtual we had multiple events were we could interact with other tax professionals and other tax interns on a frequent basis.

What I wish was different

It would have been nice to have more in person events but due to Covid these were really limited.

Advice

For anyone that interns anywhere or especially at Deloitte, connect with everyone that you can. Everyone has a great story of how they got to were they are at in there career and how they end up at the company. Not everyone takes the same path and the more connections you have the easier it is to reach out when you have questions. I would say a huge thing now in this virtual world is 15 minute zoom meetings just to chat about anything, you can simply talk about what you did over the weekend but that 15 minutes puts a face to your name and makes strong connections even when you can't work in the office.

The culture, experience, and respect from everyone involved. I got to work on things I've never imagined and received very meaningful advice from every single person there. Each staff member went out of their way to make sure I had a good experience at Deloitte.

Advice

Be extremely open to feedback and be willing to grow. This is the number one thing that will help you (1) get hired, but more importantly (2) succeed in public accounting for the long-term.

Advanced Audit Intern

What I liked

What I really appreciated from my internship was the effort to expose us to multiple industries and teams, so we can best get an idea of what kind of work environment we would want if we were to work there full time. There were happy hours, intern events, and even a trip to Deloitte University where we could build our network within the company, both at our local office and around the nation.

What I wish was different

One thing that I wished had been different was how we filled empty time. Because the internship was during the summer, audit work was relatively minimal, meaning we would often run out of things to do. As an intern I was sometimes told to do E-learnings to fill my time until I reached my 8 hours for the day. Some of these courses were enjoyable, but some were not very beneficial.

Advice

I would recommend trying to get close with your audit teams. You might have the option to work with these teams again, when you start full-time. Working with people you enjoy being around will greatly improve your work experience.
